Need the Dodgers

I’m a little surprised at saying this, but I am really rooting for the Dodgers to make it to the World Series and then win it all.
My reason for wanting a Red Sox-Dodgers matchup is purely a baseball one. These two storied franchises have never met in the series and that alone makes for a classic. Then you have two of the truly great stadiums in baseball history. Fenway Park in Boston is the oldest MLB ballpark in use and Dodgers Stadium is the third oldest.
My reasons for getting behind the Dodgers to go all the way, which I repeat has me surprised, are my mom and my son and daughter-in-law. My mom, who passed away 15 years ago, was a Dodgers fan when I was a kid and they were in Brooklyn. She particularly liked Junior Gilliam, Big Don Newcombe, Pee Wee Reese, and, of course, Duke Snyder.
Then there’s my son Michael and his wife Ashley. They live in LA and have had me to a few Dodgers games. And even though three beers cost us $54 when we were at Dodger Stadium on Father’s Day weekend, I enjoyed watching the two of them root for the home team. They look good in Dodger blue.
I’m compelled to add an apology to my pal Mike Caputo before closing. Mike is a San Francisco Giants fan. He finds nothing appealing about the Dodgers.
For the record, I cheer for the Redbirds, the St. Louis Cardinals.
