Too late now

I have college students who can’t name The Beatles.
Some don’t even know who The Beatles are.
I don’t put them down.
I tell them all the time that in my classroom they are on my turf. If I want to, I can make them all feel stupid.
But why would I do that? To make me feel smarter? That’s sick.
Another reason, though, is that I am well aware if they got me on their turf, they could make me feel stupid. All they have to say is name a rap artist.
So, we have an understanding, my students and I. We agree to respect each other.
I bring this up today because I just heard they are pulling the plug on the TV show “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.” I’m pretty sure a good number of my students have been keeping up with them for as long as they can remember. But I, myself, have never seen a single episode.
And, no, I cannot name the Kardashians. I don’t even know how many there are.
I do know there’s a Kim. But as for the rest? I’m lost.
I don’t suppose there’s a Ringo.
