Wish I said that

I emailed feedback on a writing assignment my student Nicole Piccoletti submitted and told her I was going to borrow something she wrote and use it in a blog.
I also told her I would give her credit. Which, if you are paying attention, I just did.
To be fair, her mom gets most of the credit.
The assignment was to interview someone you know. It’s a good first step toward being able to interview strangers. Kind of like batting practice.
Nicole chose her mom.
When relating what it was like growing up before cell phones and the internet, her mom said, she would head over to a friend’s house in the neighborhood and, “if there were bikes in the front yard, you knew your friends were there, too. That was our social media.”
As the headline reveals, I wish I said that.
