Thank you, January

January, January
where did you go?
We can barely remember
did you even send snow?
February’s upon us
and what do you know?
We’ll be thinking of Spring
even tho …

Winter’s still here
of that we’re aware.
But for 28 days
we can certainly bear
whatever this month
wants to send our way.
We can’t help feeling
we’ve won the day

Our bravado aside,
we know it’s no time
to let our guard down,
to commit the crime
of being too confident
for we certainly know
the feeling of despair
when March winds blow

But January, January,
we do like the pace
you’ve set thus far.
We think we can face
whatever this winter
has yet to send.
January, January,
You’ve sure been a friend
