Life’s great mysteries

My nephew asked me a question the other day for which I had no answer, but had thought about many times throughout my life.
He wondered why if the lint filter in the dryer is filled every time we dry towels, how come the towels don’t completely disappear after years of washing?
Marilyn vos Savant – she with the 228 IQ – probably knows the answer, but I sure don’t.
And here’s another that has me puzzled.
How come I can fill my toothbrush so many times after the tube of toothpaste is completely flat?
These aren’t complaints, just observations.
