Pumpkined out

I’m not a fan of pumpkin flavored beers.
A bold statement, I know.
Would I make it if more people read this blog? Perhaps not. The smaller my audience, the bolder I become, I suppose.
Blasphemy! I can hear some shout. And several would be my friends.
But they like chocolate flavored beer too. And blueberry. And orange. And quite a few others I do not.
I prefer beer flavored beer.
And while I’m at it, let’s place pumpkin flavored coffee, cappuccino and lattes on the list too.
Sorry, but I’m starting to think the only pumpkin I like is pumpkin pie. Actually, I love pumpkin pie. But hold the whipped cream, please. It’s perfect in and of itself.
I am partial to pumpkin squares too, but really, aren’t they just pumpkin pie sliced differently?
I do enjoy pumpkin roll, especially my sister’s, but it’s more the cream cheese filling than the pumpkin cake, which tastes little like pumpkin.
Truth is, many items labeled pumpkin taste little like pumpkin. Pumpkin muffins, pumpkin cookies. Except for a hint of orange color, not much connection to pumpkin at all.
I will order the pumpkin ice cream at Blue Ribbon Farm Dairy in West Pittston, though, and will go as far as to recommend it. Try it in a hot fudge sundae.
But the beers?
No thanks.
I’ll have an Oktoberfest.
